Cultural Innovations were appointed in 2017 to design and develop the content for a new visitor centre, part of a new island complex in the Maldives. The Emma Emboodhoo site comprises of a number of islands, with the visitor centre creating part of the welcome experiences to the complex.
The importance of coral and the rich and diverse ecosystem that surrounds the islands is explored within the centre. Visitors understand the conservation projects being undertaken in and around the Emboodhoo complex to preserve the previous life, whilst exploring how local Maldivian communities live in the diverse environment. Comprising an exhibition area of just over 330 sq.m the visitor centre forms a key experience in the visitor journey, as visitors transition between islands. Hands-on interactives, combined with powerful graphics and atmospheric audio create an engaging experience for visitors of all ages.
Cultural Innovations were responsible for the content development, interpretation, exhibition design and graphic design for the visitor centre.
